What's the rattling sound that I'm hearing in my washer?

My Oasis HE washer sounds like marbles rattling. It seems to come from the rear of the washer when it is draining. How do I fix that? It is model # 110.27082602. If it requires dissassembly of the washer, could you please send me a link to the DETAILED instructions (starting with the basics)? Thank you!

A Washer is definitely something we depend and when starts malfunctioning it can be a big inconvenience. I have attached some links below that give great information on way this may be happening. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not sure, but I thought that the problem might be something different. I saw some other posts indicating that there might be coins in/under the basket so it has to be removed or bearings went bad. The set of instructions that were provided started part of the way through the project AFTER the control panel had already been removed. If that is the correct answer to my problem, I might need more guidance on how to get the control panel off, etc. If it is the bearing, I might engage a repair man. However, I didn't see the pile of black dust beneath the washing machine (which is reportedly a tell tale sign of a bad bearing). Thanks!

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer. By what you have stated I suspect there might be something in the pump. To clear the pump you have to first unplug the washer from the outlet. Then tape the lid down to keep it from popping open. Now have a helper help you pull the washer out from the wall about a foot or so. Once pulled out tip the washer back against the wall and have the helper hold it so it will not fall on you. Then slide under it and disconnect the drain hose from the pump. You will want to place a few old towels down to soak the water up. Once the water is drained take the pump off and inspect the impeller. If the impeller looks fine look into the hose that goes to the tub. If that hose looks clear, go ahead reinstall the pump, and check the operation. If you still have a noise push on the back panel and see if the noise goes away. I have seen a few of these washers have a vibration there.

Please let me know what you find and if you need further assistance please reply below with more details.

Mark, It was President Roosevelt's fault. I took it apart and found two dimes in the water pump with the impeller. I haven't run a load of laundry yet but I think that it will work. I'll respond again if the problem happens again. For anyone else starting this project, I have a few suggestions. When facing the washer, the pump is on the right-rear of the washer. I leaned the washer forward, instead of back, to get to the pump. Also, you will need a 5/16" socket, pliers and a flashlight.

Thank you for the helpful information. I would like to add if you are going to tip the washer forward tape a towel over the front edge so that it does not get scratched if you have textured walls. It is not recommended to tip the washer all the way over because if there is any water in the washer it could leak onto the lock and cause more problems. Please let me know if you have any other problems

I am sorry you are having a problem with the washer. If the washer is draining but not spinning well I suspect the problem is the clutch. The clutch is made to slip when the washer is in a spin. This is so the spin basket slowly comes up to speed. If the clutch is worn, the basket takes longer to come up to speed if it spins at all. If the cloths are against the side of the spin basket after a cycle, I recommend replacing just the clutch. This is a major repair on this washer. If it is something you would like to attempt, I will be happy to assist you. I just want you to know we do not have the repair manual for this so I cannot give you images to use. I just hate for you to get the washer into pieces and not be able to get it back together.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the dryer. If you could please submit a formal question, that includes the model number and the details of the problem. We try to keep the information on each question on topic. It can be confusing for other users that read a post that goes back and forth between a washer and dryer. I hope o hear from you.
